Former PM announces engagement: “I feel less alone”. Another Arcore meeting with Maroni scheduled for Monday

“A first home is sacred. You don’t touch homes. They are the pillar of security for the future of the family so our election campaign pledge is to repeal the IMU municipal tax. Never again will there be a tax on the home”. Silvio Berlusconi was speaking on Canale 5’s Domenica Live television programme. “They ask us where we are going to find the money. We’ve already tabled a bill that manages to find the same amount in four different ways. I can guarantee you that IMU will be repealed”, added the former prime minister, pointing out that tax pressure in Italy is too high. “In the past, we reduced it by repealing the ICI tax on homes and taxes on businesses. We’ve got to continue along that road. Item number one on our election pledge will be lowering taxes a point a year by cutting costs and waste while giving business a shot in the arm to grow GDP through economic recovery”.
