Just when you think that the architecture of today’s world is an amazing thing, take a look back at historical places and you truly have an appreciation for all of the hard work that was put in centuries ago, without all of the modern conveniences we have today. Italy’s Sammezzano Castle in Tuscany really puts that in perspective with its intricacies abound within each room. The Peacock Room in particular is one of the abandoned castle’s strong suites, with vibrant colors filling the floor to the fanned ceiling work. Originally built in 1605 and left alone to this day, the Sammezzano Castle houses all kinds of unforgettable Moorish woodwork, tiling and glorious painted pieces with an Art Nouveau look to keep the eyes busy for hours on end.
