See on Scoop.it - Good Things From Italy - Le Cose Buone d’Italia

Piedmont, Italy: Acqui Terme to Relais & Chateaux San Maurizio - Just imagine cycling over the famous Langhe hills, an intimate landscape filled with vineyards, truffles, medieval towns like Montabone and Rocchetta Palafea, and stunning panoramas of an ancient landscape.

Puglia, Italy: the coastal road to Leuca - This is one of the most stunning coastal roads in the world with breathtaking views of cliffs and bays. The ride meanders through the fishing village of Santa Cesarea Terme, famous for its Moorish architecture and thermal waters, and continues along the coast passing spectacular sea caves and the town of Castro, where Virgil claims the legendary Aeneas first made landfall in Italy.

Hvar, Croatia: around Hvar Island to Paklinski Otoci

Tuscany, Italy: through the Crete Senesi and the back roads into Siena - Have you ever been on a ride where you exclaim “this is the most beautiful view I have ever seen” and then your climb another hill, turn a corner and declare, “ok,no, actually this the most beautiful view I have ever seen”, and then you climb a little further, turn another corner and proclaim, “really, this is definitely the most beautiful view I’ve ever seen”. Well, that’s what this bicycle ride from Montalcino to Siena is like, especially the final 11k climb up these challenging hills into Siena. This route takes you along the bare ridges of the Crete Senesi through Asciano and Vescona to Arbia and then follows the timeless back roads up a series of challenging hills to enter Siena in truly evocative fashion. This is a definitely a ride worth taking!

A Meal I Waited 55 Years For!

See on Scoop.it - La Cucina Italiana - De Italiaanse Keuken - The Italian Kitchen

Well, its finally happened - I have had the best meal of my life. Today we went to Restaurant Il Tiglio in the mountainous village of Montemonaco which is nestled in the stunningly breathtaking Sibillini National Park. The weather was glorious which made the 45 minute trip there wonderful.

We sat at 12h30 and finally had some coffee at 16h30 - what a wonderful way to spend your birthday - special friends, special food and of course exceptional wine! A cellar here to be marvelled catalogued as a old bible of wine

Here are some highlights of the 11 course degustation menu - well worth a visit when you are in Marche.

Bloemen op ons bord | Italiaans eten | Ciao tutti - ontdekkingsblog door Italië

See on Scoop.it - La Cucina Italiana - De Italiaanse Keuken - The Italian Kitchen

Travel to The Marche Region of Italy

See on Scoop.it - Vacanza In Italia - Vakantie In Italie - Holiday In Italy

In the recent past, the Marche has been singularly focused on wealth creation and economic development, albeit with very little disturbance to the quiet way of life favored by most of its inhabitants. The marchigiani’s initial reticence to travelers belies the shy, genuine disposition of its hard working people.

The region is slowly being discovered as the new Italian frontier; an abridged expression of the varied charms of Italy with a variety of attractions offered seasonally and year- round, including: authentic foods, breathtaking landscapes, a lively cultural landscape, artistic and natural treasures. […]

Summer at the Beach Opera season is in full swing during the summer months, as well as Blues and Celtic music events, and street artists festivals. Every town and hamlet offers its own diversion during this hectic, fun time of the year, with people spilling out on the main town piazza to mingle and live the night away. ”White” & “Pink” night festivals: shows, museums, shops and movida are open for business until dawn.

Certified uncontaminated waters for 18 or the region’s beaches, second only to Liguria. Scuba and bathing in the crystalline waters of the Conero reserve, near Ancona, or in the San Bartolo Park preserve near Gabicce Medieval fairs and historical re-enactments throughout the summer.[…]
