“The romance of the Italian pasta”: the exhibition that opened in Palermo a few days ago focuses on pasta as a Sicilian product. Pasta was invented in Sicily and, as old documents prove, the first pasta factory was located in the Palermo area. The origins of pasta are told by Nunzio Russo who is a descendant of a family of industrial producers of pasta: the writer tries to get the public into a fascinating journey along the history of four generations of pasta makers. The story began in 1154 between Termini Imerese, near Palermo, western Sicily, and Trabia. Over time, Italians couldn’t help but have pasta for lunch or dinner, turning it into one of the most important products for exports.
