Miriam Bunnik blogt: Schrijven over Liguria

See on Scoop.it - Good Things From Italy - Le Cose Buone d’Italia

See on Scoop.it - La Gazzetta Di Lella - News From Italy - Italiaans Nieuws

A Gondola Ride for Two Euros

See on Scoop.it - Good Things From Italy - Le Cose Buone d’Italia

You can get on a Gondola da Parada to cross the canal and it costs between €0,70 (this is the local residents’ fare) and €2.00. I lived in Venice for five years without ever going on a gondola stroll along the Grand Canal. My friend and I used to say it was too touristy for us, but actually the real issue was that, as university students, we could have never afforded it. But like true Veneziani, we got on a gondola almost everyday to cross the canal using a Traghetto Gondola. Gondolas employed for this kind of service are different from the ones used for the longer itinerary around the lagoon: they have a flat bottom and are known as ‘gondole da parada’.

Visit Sicily in 8 days | Italy From The Inside

See on Scoop.it - Vacanza In Italia - Vakantie In Italie - Holiday In Italy

This is what we did on our sixth day in Sicily: Gole di Alcantara and Taormina The Gole di Alcantara is another place that was strongly recommended by our Sicilian friend Giovanni. Unfortunately we picked the wrong season to visit it, because the highlight of this park is walking in the gorge (and bathing in it during the summer time). But since it was spring, the gorge was off limits due to the heavy amount of water running in the river. Nevertheless we were able to admire its amazing rock formations, another characteristic that makes this place unique.

Design Matters: Designer of The Day - Valentino Orlandi

See on Scoop.it - Good Things From Italy - Le Cose Buone d’Italia

There always exists in every type of fashion design, companies which produce extraordinary products and can not, will not, or do not spend the massive amount of money on marketing that is required to be globally known. Handbag designer Valentino Orlandi started his company in 1974. His extraordinary bags cost less than Marc Jacobs are better made and much more distinctive. If I put a Marc Jacobs or Michael Kors bag without logos next to a Valentino Orlandi the Valentino Orlandi would be far more coveted.[…]

Travel: In love with La Dolce Vita - Independent.ie

See on Scoop.it - Vacanza In Italia - Vakantie In Italie - Holiday In Italy

Italy is the best place in the world to go on holidays, because there is a likelihood that everything you eat will be taken seriously by the person who cooks it and that most of the things you experience as a tourist will have had effort put into them. Slipping into this way of being, this connection with simplicity and intrinsic quality, also gives you that thing we all crave as tourists, authenticity, a local experience, to eat the way they do, to gain some insight in to their lives.
